Greece is one of my favourite places in Europe! There are so many islands to choose from and each one offers something different. Island hopping is easy, the food is amazing and the sea is incredible! This summer we weren’t sure if we would be able to get away given COVID-19 but we booked a week off work and last minute booked some flights to Greece! We were super lucky that we got to get away trouble free without quarantining or having anything cancelled. Read on to find out more info on our trip!

Getting There: We flew from London Gatwick directly to Santorini. After a few days here we took a ferry from the port to Mykonos which took 2 hours 15 minutes and cost about 60 euros. We researched the ferry price and it seems that the ferry always costs the same price whether you buy it online in advance or at the port on the day. We used the website Ferry Hopper which was super easy! After a few days in Mykonos we flew directly back to London. Flight times were around 3 hours 45.
Where Did We Go: The 8 day itinerary we chose was 4 nights in Santorini > 4 nights in Mykonos.
Accommodation: we used Booking.com to book our accommodation. Both Santorini and Mykonos are quite expensive islands so accommodation can be quite pricey especially in high season and you don’t always get much for your money.
Getting Around: both islands are really relaxed and it is super easy to either catch a bus between towns or alternatively you can hire a car. Taxis on the islands are really expensive, it can be 20 euros for less than ten minutes so this is definitely something to consider when choosing accommodation. We chose to hire a car in Santorini which was only 25 euros a day plus petrol. In Mykonos we were staying in the centre of town and it was harder to park so we hired a quad bike instead (bit smaller!). The quad cost 25 euros a day too so pretty cheap, it’s worth asking around though as the first place we asked quoted us more.
What To Do: amazing sunsets, beautiful beaches, picturesque towns and the most amazing food, need I say more!
