How did we get there?
We arrived in Nusa Lembongan from Gili T. There are boats which go direct between the Gili’s and Nusa Islands every day and take only a couple of hours. You can also get to the Nusa Islands from mainland Bali, we went back to Sanur in a smaller speedboat ferry which took maybe half an hour, so really not far at all.
Where did we stay and for how long?
We only had time to visit the one Nusa Island – Nusa Lembongan where we stayed for 2 nights. We stayed at Dinatah Lembongan Villas which I couldn’t recommend more highly. It’s a family run place which was spotlessly clean, modern and had very friendly staff. Pretty tasty breakfast too!
What did we do whilst we were there?
If I were to go back now, I would definitely make time to visit Nusa Penida to see the insta-famous Kelingking Cliff viewpoint, waterfalls and more amazing beaches. But Nusa Lembongan still plays host to some incredible sights that shouldn’t be missed!
There are plenty of beaches to explore and the easiest way to get around the island is to rent a scooter. You should visit the famous Devil’s Tear cliff viewpoint and next to this you will find Dream Beach which is an absolutely stunning bay with a white sand beach and a cool beach club restaurant perched on the cliffs above. We paid for some lunch here and got access to the infinity pool and some sunbeds for the day which was pretty relaxing!
Mushroom beach is nice in the evening for dinner with a handful of restaurants and beach bars and this was walking distance from our hotel. We also explored round towards sunset point and caught an awesome sunset from Cloudland Beach Bar. I would recommend the Sandy Bay Beach Bar for a nice meal out too.
Unfortunately the weather wasn’t right for us but if it is, I would urge you to book a dive with the manta rays. When we were there, the owner of our hotel, his father said he could take us out on his boat early in the morning to see the manta rays and swim with them but unfortunately the waves were too big and it was not safe to go on the day we had planned it for. I’m sure other places must offer this trip and I would have loved to do this!
With more time on the Nusa Islands, there is plenty more to explore and I would recommend these as well as the Gili Islands as they offer a different experience. They are larger islands with actual roads etc. meaning they aren’t so densely populated with tourists as the Gili’s, so a nice contrast.
